How to display photos from a NextGen album
This page describes how you can use photos from the NextGen album in your page, trip report, form post etc.
Adding pictures straight to my report
If you don’t want to make a NextGen gallery, just use the Add Media button in your report, and add your pictures straight to the report.
Including NextGen Galleries in my trip report
You can write trip reports etc using the link on the right hand menu. If you have already put your pictures in a NextGen gallery, (see instructions how to do that) then there are various things you can write in your post to get the NextGen galleries to display. These should work both in reports, and in forum posts:
Of all the various syntaxes which can be used, the most useful is probably the gallery syntax.
Writing [gallery=id] will display the NextGen gallery with that ID, e.g. [gallery=1] will display this:
Other syntaxes you can use, include singlepic, album, or imagebrowser.
Full instructions on all these syntaxes can be found in David Potter’s technical NextGen instructions (outside site)
Note that just writing [gallery] in a report will display the images which you have uploaded to the report (not any photos in NextGen). This can also look neat, and is the right thing to do if you don’t want to bother with NextGen - just upload the pictures into the report itself, using the add media button.
Your Gallery as part of the Album page
If you have added your pictures to the NextGen album using the instructions How to add your pictures to the NextGen gallery, then your pictures will automatically be there on the Album page of our club website - you don’t need to do anything else.
Using a NextGen picture in my trip report - using the “Add media” button
While your write your trip report (or social report, or whatever post/page you are writing), click on the “Add media” button. In the NextGen tab, you will see all the photos that anyone has added to NextGen. In the Gallery tab, you will also see all the photos anyone has added to any report. You can click on any of these images and insert them into your report.
The more ordinary way of putting an image in a forum post
For forum posts, like on most forums, you can add pictures by knowing the URL of an image to be able to hotlink it in your forum post. You can usually find that by right clicking on an image and finding its properties. Then you can use the “picture” button to insert that url. Or, in fact, you can also upload your image into the forum post directly.
