Alumni

A whole bunch of folk who were at LUCC at one time or another (or extras we have picked up along the way) all tend to carry on coming back to paddle, or, lets face it, never really leave. Some old and familiar faces (OK, we’ll just say familiar, less of the old thankyou) crop up at St Davids, Deniollen trip, and the other various trips throughout the year.

As well as keeping paddling, a bunch of them are actually doing other things(?!), how wierd: Having jobs, producing sprogs, doing a bunch of random stuff.

If you want to see their paddling and non-paddling adventures - what the Liverpool (ex)Uni Canoe and Kayak “Young’uns”  have been getting up to lately, check out the alumni blog site,  LUCKYBLOG

Big thankyous to Sue for all the organising. You can organise my Birthday celebrations every year. Filed under: alps, photos, skiing, snowboarding, trip reports [...]

Washburn report
On Sunday, a whole bunch of folk headed to the Washburn – Alison, Kaylia, me, Penny, Bob, Frank, Will, Cath, Chris, Anna, Splinky and Kev. Will found it “too boring”, or maybe he was too hungover from party the night before, and decided to jog the shuttles instead, which was very handy for the rest of us. Was [...]

The Dusi runs from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, 125km, 3days, 1,500 participants (!) in all manner of craft. As well as various rapids, weirs and portages, hazards [...]
White Christmas
A trip planned based on the theory that I can’t possibly be with my family at Christmas, so I am going to encourage everyone else to skip out on theirs as well. Skipping out on family turned out to be less popular than I expected, the only locals to make the trip were JimBob & [...]

When rivers go bad
On September 6th, the innocuous seeming Henmore brook, which runs past the end of my folks garden, rose by more than 10 foot and burst the river-defence boundary wall, flooding their bungalow very suddenly, at 3am The whole thing, the event itself and especially the aftermath, has been a bit surreal. When people ask how things [...]

Betws-y-coed
We went a very pretty walk, to Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Geirionydd reservoirs, more pics here. Mist in the valleys, and bright sunshine on the tops lovely. Chris and I tested the emergency shelter, and discovered that it creates emergencies just fine – happy birthday Chris, here’s a cracked skull just for you (sorry!) Other activities [...]
