LUCC Committee Minutes 24/04/08

I.       Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.

b. Trips

·         St. Davids Trip: 25th - 27th May, Andy and Flic to organise.

·         Possible Washburn trip before the end of term (Mary)

·         Next year’s Freshers’ trip - weekend trip to barn in Wales, Stu to organise.

c. Socials

·         Social secretaries are to plan an end of exam socials - need to check when exams finish for the majority of the club (Tammy)

d. Equipment

·         Faulty Ainsworth paddles and Lomo decks are to be returned (laura m, mary)

·         Decision made to buy new polo balls

·         Any money left in the account is to be spent on new paddles.

·         Laura M to review kit list.

e. Other

·         Flic, who was elected as playboating secretary, is to now be the Freestyle and WWR secretary.
           

IV. Any Other Business

1.      Club shed keys

New system of key holders for public sheds, rather than the old key sign-out system at the security office.  Key holders are Andy R, Laura M & Laura B.
Andy and Laura M to write out set of key rules.
Keys are not to be taken out of Liverpool without prior consent.

2.      Website

·         New website has been launched and the forum is now active.

·         This website will cost £35 per year

·         Some connitttee members are to be Admins/Moderators

·         Email addresses for committee members are to be set up through the website

·         Plan is for a summary email of the information on the front page to be sent out at the end of each day.  Those registered can choose whether or not they receive this.

a. Captain: We no longer have use of the top room by the pool
• Note - new not so sympathetic manager of the sports centre
• We are now not allowed to communicate with the cash office, all money collections now proceed through the Base, after PV forms have been submitted to the Sport Liverpool Office.

• There is still quite a backlog of cheques that have been applied to through the AU as they have changed their bank admin to an outside provider down south
b. Kit replacement
• Guidelines to be drawn up regarding the costs of kit replacement should it be lost
• Better accounting for kit on return from trips is needed to maintain what we have

1. Introduction of Hannah Whitton

   New Sports Development Officer (job to assess club budgets, increase Liverpool University BUSA points, arrange sports scholarships)

   • Main Aim - Work with Bryan (Sports Centre Manager) to create a service agreement setting out the centre’s duty to us as a club.

2. Equipment

   Selling and Replacement

   • 4 boats have been sold (x3 Dancers, x1 Microbat) àtotal £124 to club funds (Woo back in the black!)
   • To Sell; Dancers (Blue), Vega Surf Shoe (Sparkly Green), One of the two C2s.
   • Suggested the latter could be replaced with a plastic version (£375ish for new fibreglass)
   • Ends to be removed from dead C1 to be resurrected for pool use [ANDY]
   • Method Air – is OOA but salvageable
   • Fibreglass polo boat – to be fixed by Dave Brown (£35) [ANDY]

   Pool Kit

   • Survey of pool boats required to assess repair [LAURA – now completed]
   • Pool Boats due to be stored in “complex” at poolside (arranged over the summer)
   • Long Term Aim = completely separate pool and outdoor kit and achieve better quality of kit!
   • New Polo Goals in the workshop – aim to be done by Easter

   Inventory

   • Complete Inventory of everything owned by the club needs to be done [LAURA + PHIL]
   • Identification of what the club is losing/damaging more of
   • Kit wish list can be derived from this for sponsorship purposes [refer to Dave]

   The Big Strap Debate

   • Purchase of x10 straps (+5m long) with “Liv-Uni” written on them [VANNY]
   • Suggested that Dom does rope tying master class as rope is free!

   Cath’s Points

   • Face guards on helmets by BUSA
   • Ade has worked his magic with most of the paddles
