St Davids
Info about this trip, which usually happens in May
Where is it Pembrokeshire.
We stay at the campsite at St Justinian’s, see multimap.
Rhosson Ganol Farm, St Justinian’s (GR 727252).
Once you get to st Davids, carry on into the centre of town where there is a triangle / monument/ roundabout. At the monument, you’d really prefer to go down the road down the hill with a no entry sign…..but you can’t, because its “no entry”….. So instead, take the exit before that - it is signposted St Justinian’s. In order to rejoin the road you really want, follow the road curving round to the right. Once you get back to the road you want, turn left onto it. Now you want to follow this road all the way to st Justinian’s - should be signed (small signposts) at any junctions / forks.
Carry on towards the lifeboat station until you can see the sea (unless it’s dark ).
The farmhouse is on the right, the campfield is on the left, on the seaward side of prominant hill with views over Ramsey Island and the sound (unless its dark.)
Turn left up the track and take the right/middle fork. Bob’s yer badger.
Coasteering
Is for lemmings with a death wish. Wear your canoe gear. Scramble around on rocks, while sometimes falling in the sea on purpose. “Patted by friendly waves.”
Surfing
E.g. at white sands beach. You could brush up on surfing etiquette before you go, so that the local non-canoeing surfers don’t get as angry with you / squashed.
Resources, Weather Reports, Surf Reports
Here’s a list of good weather and surf pages, at Uk sea kayak guidebook
For surf, see e.g. Magic Seaweed. The beach near st Davids is called White Sands:
For weather:
metcheck tells you what you want to hear
BBC tells you with a nice reassuring non-region-specific accent
Aussie Dave tells you something really detailed, and maybe even true.
Info on the Bitches
Avail from various websites, including:
Use this info in conjunction with your own experience or info from the more experienced people in the club, weather reports, tide reports etc.
Take into account the appropriate safety considerations, to be sure that a fun time is had.
If its just not the right weather / tide / group / experience mix or whatever for the bitches, then there are plenty of other things to do round here.
If it is exactly the right weather / tide / group / experience mix for the bitches, then have a lovely playful time.

For future note, for next years etc… the phone number for the camp site is 01437 720361… you’re asking for a Mrs Griffiths and it’s £5 per night, per person (unless you book in advance, take 30+ people, and have the whole weekends money up front - they do you a deal :o) )
